Stacey Price practices what she preaches. Just recently, she encouraged her husband, Corky, and son, Corey, to ride their bicycles with her from Walterboro to Edisto Beach – a 47 mile adventure. Stacey, who serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Eat Smart, Move More Colleton County Board of Directors, has been promoting healthy lifestyles in our community for many years.

In 2003, the former fitness instructor joined forces with Clemson University Extension Food Safety and Nutrition Agent Marilyn Peters and community advocate Rev. Phillip Taylor to start COACH – the Coalition Organized to Address Children’s Health. COACH’s mission was to improve the health of children and their families through the prevention of weight problems and related chronic diseases.

As a founding member of COACH, Stacey gave leadership to many of the organization’s efforts, including the promotion of breastfeeding by Colleton Medical Center’s lactation coaches and helping to organize a Fit ‘n’ Fun Jamboree held at the Walterboro-Colleton Recreation Center.

Stacey assisted in organizing TV Turnoff Week events and helped to develop a school wellness policy for the Colleton County School District. She was very involved in working with the school district’s Food Services staff to implement “Universal Breakfasting” — free breakfast for every student in the Colleton School District — and breakfasts served in the classroom at all elementary schools.

When COACH became Eat Smart, Move More Colleton County, Stacey continued to work for the betterment of our community.

As the organization’s Community Team Chairman and chairman of the Walking Committee, she organized a successful Fun Walk and weekly community walks. She is also very involved in advocating for policy and environmental changes that will make ours a healthier community.

Stacey has not only generously given of her time, she has also supported COACH and Eat Smart, Move More by providing financial and in-kind support from her family’s businesses, Jus’ Sports and Signs Plus.

Let’s Go, Stacey! You are an Eat Smart, Move More champion!
